Software

There's lots of free or really cheap software out there that I use practically every day to make little things easier.

Firefox (windows, linux, mac)

If you're still using Internet Explorer (or even Firefox 1.5 or earlier, which didn't have the auto-updates) then you need to get with the program.

PrintScreen (Windows only, mac users see Skitch)

This is little app that does only one thing, and that's take screenshots.  Now you're going to say, I know how to do that, you press the print screen button, open paint, paste the image, save it as a jpg, then maybe you open it in something else and crop the image.  When PrintScreen, once you check a couple options, allows you to select a rectangle on screen and send that image, as a jpg, so a selected folder and sequentailly number the files.  This makes it rediculously useful for making little walkthroughs of how to do stuff (I'll make one for how to set up printscreen once I have some free time)
